About

I'm a software engineer at Wonde, where for the last two years I've worked on production PHP and Laravel codebases, building and refining features and investigating complex customer API integration issues from application code through to the data. I also build full-stack projects in C# and ASP.NET Core.

Full Stack Software Engineer

A backend-leaning full-stack developer who works mainly in PHP, Laravel and MySQL, and also builds in C# and ASP.NET Core.

  • City: Liverpool, UK

  • Looking for: Junior to mid-level PHP / Laravel, .NET or full-stack roles

Besides writing code, I help onboard and train newer engineers, and colleagues often come to me with difficult development-support problems. I enjoy work where I get to dig into how a system really behaves, and I care about code that the next person can easily maintain.

Professional Experience

Associate Software Engineer

  • Own and investigate technical support issues involving customer API integrations, diagnosing problems across application code, data and integration behaviour.
  • Develop and refine features in PHP and Laravel within shared production codebases, with a focus on maintainability, reliability and clear engineering standards.
  • Work with senior and core engineers through planning, implementation, testing and deployment, bringing technical context from both development and customer support.
  • Maintain, optimise and refactor existing code and infrastructure to improve the quality and reliability of customer-facing software.
  • Test new functionality before release, identifying defects and feeding back to improve behaviour and user experience.
  • Help onboard and train newer engineers: sharing system knowledge, reviewing technical approaches and supporting them towards owning support work independently.
  • Act as an informal point of contact for complex development-support issues, regularly helping colleagues solve technical problems.

Web Developer

I was tasked with designing and developing a website for GB Create. A specification was given by the client, and I designed, implemented and maintained the site. The website was built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.

I have also developed a company directory app which provides a front end interface for users to perform CRUD operations on the company database.

Graduate IT Incident Manager

I was hired on the DXC graduate scheme and assigned the role of IT Incident manager. My duties included: Creating/presenting reports for clients, working with technical teams to fix reported IT incidents, providing assistance in fixing incidents, tracking and logging incidents, assigning incidents to relevant teams, daily internal reporting, creating service improvement plans with clients, maintaining strong client relationships.

I resigned as I wanted to pursue a more technical role. However, this client facing role has provided me with valuable new people and management skills that I will be able to utilise throughout my career.

SWQA Compatibility Tester

I was temporarily employed on multiple contracts as part of an SWQA (Software Quality Assurance) team to test compatibility on new PlayStation 4 and 5 firmware. This role saw me work as part of a team to perform test cases on different PS4, PS5 and PSVR titles to look for any compatibility issues with the new firmware. I was employed four times in this role in temporary contracts.
